Ceiling Tracking
Ceiling track systems are the pathways that allow a ceiling lift to move safely and smoothly throughout a space. The right track layout ensures efficient transfers, accommodates room design, and supports the user’s mobility needs. Two main configurations are available, each offering different levels of flexibility and cost. Straight track systems, or mono-rails, provide simple point-to-point movement along a fixed path, while XY systems, or H-tracks, allow full coverage of the room by enabling movement anywhere within the defined area. Together, these options make it possible to design a track system that fits both the space and the user’s requirements.
Straight Tracks
Straight track systems, also known as mono-rails, provide simple point-to-point movement along a fixed path in the room. They are the most economical ceiling track option and work well for transfers between two specific locations, such as a bed to a wheelchair. While they offer reliable and efficient travel, the layout of the room must suit the track path, as movement is limited to the line of the rail.
Curved Tracks
Curved track systems allow a ceiling lift to follow a customized path that bends or turns to match the layout of the room. This design is ideal for navigating around corners, tight spaces, or irregular floorplans where a straight rail would not be practical. Curved tracks provide smooth, guided movement while maintaining a clean, discreet appearance that integrates well into the home or care environment.
XY Tracks
XY track systems, also known as H-tracks, provide full-room coverage by allowing the lift to move freely in any direction within the defined ceiling grid. Two parallel rails support a perpendicular traverse, or boom, rail, creating a smooth and flexible lifting area that makes transfers easier and reduces the need for precise positioning. XY systems are ideal for rooms where multiple transfer points are needed or where maximum maneuverability is important.
